Sweden Set for Toughest Online Casino Requirements in Scandinavia?

If you look around the popular Scandinavian gaming scene, you will see just how much companies are working to manage regulation. For years now, regulation has been a hot potato that many governments have struggled to hold on to. However, with many casino slots in Scandinavia – Sweden especially – undergoing massive reforms, that could be about to change.
Indeed, a move by the Swedish Minister of Social Security, Ardalan Shekarabi, could see even more sweeping changes to come. As one of the most well-known MPs within the Swedish Social Democrats party, Shekarabi played a major role in the redevelopment of laws and regulations in Sweden in 2018. Now, he might be set to bring in some of the biggest regulations seen for online casinos in Scandinavia.
The aim is to try and move to ‘stage two’ of their tighter-than-ever regulations. They intend to try and bring in much tougher regulations when it comes to things like advertising and marketing of the industry. They also want to try and squeeze any regulated partners within the industry to ensure they comply with some of the tightest rules for marketing, advertising, and more.
While there is much uncertainty about what the future holds for new casino sites in Scandinavia, change is coming. Sweden has often played the role of the market leader on gambling legislation, and it looks set to continue with this decision.
