The Swedish online casino gaming industry has, for some time, been one of the most interesting and fervent in its growth. However, part of that growth has changed thanks to the change in the gambling licensing regulations of the country.
However, The Stars Group have acquired a deal with the Swedish gambling licensing regulatory group, the Lotteriinspektionen, meaning that PokerStars might start appearing on Swedish online casino channels.
This move comes amid a movement where another four operators alongside The Stars Group entered the ranks. Other interesting groups are Expekt Nordics (Betclic Everest Group), Mandalorian Technologies (Prank Casino and No Account Casino) and Tipwin (Betway Group) have all joined the market. This is very interesting, as these groups all maintain previous success and backing within the industry, meaning the Swedish online casino industry retains that interesting competitiveness.
This will also help to see the first batch of licenses released by the Lotteriinspektionen total to an impressive 23 online platforms so far. With around 70 applications received, it’s interesting to see the rich scale of both new and old names emerging in one of the most important European gaming markets.
The changes in the way that Sweden operates this important part of its gambling operations will set the precedent for future applicants, too. The high bar being set already can only bode well for the future, as the nation continues to add much-needed stimulus to the market come January 1st.
