With the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) cracking down on who gets a gambling license, concerns have existed for some time that major names might miss out on the lucrative UK gaming market. Well, one company that has decided it has no desire to be part of the iGaming and online betting industry in the UK is Pinnacle.
Pinnacle recently announced that they had no desire to contest for a UK gambling license. They offer wide-ranging sports betting service and is one of the most respected names in the wider industry. They have now announced that they will be withdrawing all of their applications for licensing with the UKGC.
Despite being ‘willing’ to serve in the UK gaming market, they believe that it’s the ‘right time’ to move away from the UKGC’ demands and perhaps look elsewhere. With their license application pending for a very long period of time, and with no real specific reason given for the delays, it’s going to be very interesting to see what comes next.
Indeed, Pinnacle had previously wanted to launch a website in the UK in 2017, but it did not happen. Now, with regulators not providing them with the permission needed they have decided to move on from the hope of getting a UKG license.
They first withdrew from the UK market in 2014, though they did plan to return in the future. That now appears to be dead in the water, though.
