As a nation that is already undergoing significant political change, the gambling legislation for Italian gamers has become an afterthought. However, the nation has finally granted some concessions for online casino gaming services within the country, after an arduous process that has become fraught with delays and frustration.
The Agenzia della dogane e de monopoli (ADM) finally decided that it has provided a series of an approved candidate with the right to operate in the Italian gaming market. These licenses, which will last from now until December 31st, 2022, will help to finally allow the market to move forward after being stuck in limbo for some time.
The present list of accepted experts will include local operator Lottomatica, as well as groups like The Stars Group and GVC Holdings. 66 concessions in total were provided, with licenses provided to four other companies as well. Interestingly, the likes of Betclic and Lottomatrix Operations Limited and Rabbit Entertainment Ltd were all either not provided with concessions, or withdrew their own applications in the past.
Of course, despite the fact that this has been finally ratified by the Italian government, this has been an extremely long time coming. This was first supposed to pass towards the end of 2017, before being pushed to 2018 and then eventually until now.
This is going to help make sure that the once-thriving Italian market can return to its original form and success, though, which can only be a good thing.
