For some time now, Gaming Realms has been quite a big name in the UK online casino industry: no longer. They have recently sold off around 70% of their share to Norwegian firm River UK Casino. This took place for around £23.1m and brings about an end to their major work within the UK casino industry.
With major names like X Factor Games, Britain’s Got Talent games and also Spin Genie among others, the Norwegian firm comes out of this as the clear winner. With a five-year B2B platform now started by River UK Casino, the hope is that it will add another £1m to the annual revenue streams for the group.
Gaming Realms, though, will retain its hold over Slingo.com as well as any associated brands that come with Slingo.com.
Speaking about the sale was Patrick Southon, the CEO of Gaming Realms, who said: “We are delighted to announce this agreement with River iGaming. We believe that this sale will be transformational for Gaming Realms as it will enable us to focus more of our resources on international licensing and the development of new gaming content, placing us in a stronger position to drive further profitable growth in the future.”
While fans might be surprised to see such a move, it’s likely to bring a win/win situation for all involved.
