Online Gambling Still Dominating UK Gambling Scene

For years now the UK has seen a constant increase in the level of online gambling usage. As the rise of mobile devices allowing us to gamble on the go increases, we have a rather interesting position at play here whereby the UK – a nation known for loving offline gambling, bookmakers shops and the like – have become increasingly more online based.

Indeed, the UK Gambling Commission recently announced that online gambling was still the dominant form of gambling that takes place in the UK today. Looking from April ’16-March ’17, they found that gambling had gone up 1.8% in terms of yield – up to a whopping £13.7bn.

The sheer wealth of keep what you earn offers and also the rapid rise of new UK online casino sites means that people are finding opportunities to take gambling to a whole new level while being able to appreciate a whole new level of value.

As gambling online sees more competition arise, then, the sheer range of UK free spins offers, extra plays and multipliers mean that gambling offline tends to offer less value than gambling online.

With people so used to this kind of value deals that offline destinations simply cannot keep up with, these numbers show no signs of slowing down. Indeed, online active customer accounts went by around 25%, while the online casino industry was taking around 2/3rds of the gambling scene for itself, away from table games, card games, and poker games.

This shows little sign of slowing down, despite the UKGC doing all that they can to try and halt the advance of gambling. By trying to reducing advertising styles and improve standards, the hope is that gambling will be reduced; online, though, the trend points to the opposite taking place.
